Our Story
We started Addy Solar & Electric in 2012, right here in Redding, CA.
At the time, solar was still considered a fringe idea for homeowners — something only early adopters or large companies were exploring. But we saw an opportunity: Redding gets more sun than almost anywhere in the country, and solar energy made too much sense to ignore.
So we set out to help our neighbors harness the power of the sun. Since then, we’ve installed hundreds of custom solar systems for both residential and commercial properties across the region — from Red Bluff to Mt. Shasta to the East Bay.
Today, Addy Solar is known for reliable service, honest advice, and a commitment to building smarter energy solutions for Northern California.

Addy Solar & Electric was founded by Danny Addy, a seasoned electrician with over 25 years of experience. After relocating from New York to Redding in 2008, Danny saw the tremendous potential of solar energy and officially expanded the company’s focus to solar installations in 2012. Since then, Addy Solar & Electric has designed and installed hundreds of high-quality solar systems across Northern California, growing from its roots in the Redding area to serve Shasta, Tehama, and Siskiyou counties, the Bay Area, and beyond. Under Danny’s leadership, the company has earned a reputation for expert craftsmanship, personalized service, and helping homeowners and businesses reduce energy costs while embracing clean, renewable power. When Danny isn’t busy working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children, coaching baseball, and playing the game whenever he gets the chance. His passion for teamwork and leadership extends beyond the jobsite and into his personal life and community.
CEO
Pete Cottrell brings 29 years of construction experience and has served as Addy Solar & Electric’s Field Operations Manager since 2021. Since stepping into this role, Pete has overseen every project the company has delivered, ensuring each one reflects the integrity, craftsmanship, and professionalism that define our standards. Pete is widely recognized by clients for his leadership, communication, and hands-on commitment to quality. Known for going above and beyond, Pete takes great personal pride in his work and treats every project with exceptional attention to detail. For Pete, this is more than just a job — it’s a lifestyle. His dedication to doing things the right way has made him an essential part of the company’s continued success and a trusted representative of Addy Solar & Electric on every jobsite. When Pete isn’t busy working — which is rare — he enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, as well as coaching his children’s sports teams. His dedication to leadership, teamwork, and supporting others carries over from the jobsite into his family life and community.
Field Operations Manager
John Meagher serves as a Traveling Journeyman Electrician for Addy Electric, Inc. dba Addy Solar, bringing extensive electrical knowledge, strong technical skills, and years of hands-on field experience to the team. He supports projects across a wide geographic area, traveling wherever needed to assist with installations, troubleshooting, and complex electrical work. John is known for his flexibility, dependability, and ability to adapt to a variety of project environments and challenges. His journeyman-level expertise helps ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with electrical codes and industry standards. Whether assisting with large-scale installations or solving field issues on active jobsites, John brings professionalism and precision to every project he’s involved in. His willingness to travel and support teams wherever needed strengthens the company’s ability to serve clients throughout the region while maintaining the high standards Addy Solar is known for.
Journeyman Electrician
Michael brings more than 40 years of electrical experience to Addy Electric, Inc. offering a level of technical knowledge and professionalism that can only be gained through decades of hands-on work in the field. His attention to detail consistently exceeds industry standards and has earned him a reputation for producing some of the cleanest, most precise electrical work our clients have ever seen. Michael’s high standards guide every project he touches. He ensures all installations are completed correctly, safely, and in full compliance with local codes and regulations. If something does not meet those expectations, he will redo it without hesitation. His commitment to quality is unwavering, and he takes great pride in mentoring newer team members, teaching proper techniques, and reinforcing the standards that uphold both industry best practices and the company’s reputation. Michael takes great pride in the quality and precision of his work, ensuring every installation is completed safely, correctly, and to the highest standards possible. His professionalism, strong work ethic, and passion for the trade are evident in every project he touches. When Michael is on a jobsite, the team knows the work will be completed with exceptional care, attention to detail, and craftsmanship. More than just an electrician, Michael truly loves what he does. Outside of work, Michael enjoys spending time with his lovely wife and values the time they share together.
Electrical Lead
Dominic joined Addy Electric, Inc.in 2023, bringing with him a strong work ethic, natural leadership, and a commitment to excellence. Since joining the team, he has quickly proven himself as a dependable leader in the field and has advanced into the role of PV Lead Technician. Dominic has successfully led a wide range of residential and small-commercial solar projects, completing installations from the Oregon border to Sacramento, the Humboldt Coast, and Alturas. His ability to manage crews, coordinate project details, and maintain high installation standards has contributed to the success of numerous solar and generator projects across Northern California. Dominic is highly regarded by clients for his outstanding customer service, calm demeanor, and clear communication. His attention to detail and professionalism have earned him numerous positive reviews and a strong reputation within both the industry and the community. Clients consistently note his ability to explain system details, keep them informed, and ensure their project is completed to the highest standards. When Dominic is not working, he enjoys baseball, golfing with friends, fishing, and spending time outdoors. His positive attitude, strong leadership, and dedication to quality make him a valued part of the Addy Solar team.
PV Lead
Shea is a certified electrician whose technical expertise and positive attitude have made him a valuable member of the Addy Solar & Electric team. Since joining the company in 2023, he has elevated both the electrical and solar divisions through his strong work ethic, problem-solving ability, and natural leadership. His consistent attention to detail and commitment to completing projects correctly the first time earned him a lead position in both Electrical and PV operations. Shea has successfully completed numerous new-home electrical installations and solar projects, demonstrating a high level of craftsmanship and reliability. Clients consistently appreciate his clear communication, friendly demeanor, and willingness to ensure every detail of their project is handled with care. His professionalism and customer-focused approach have contributed to a growing number of positive reviews and a strong reputation within the community. Shea’s blend of technical skill, leadership, and genuine customer service makes him a trusted representative of Addy Solar & Electric and a key contributor to the quality and success of our Projects. Outside of work, he enjoys spending quality time with his wife and child, relaxing with video games, and getting out on the golf course whenever he can.
Electrical and PV Lead
Buddy is one of the youngest members of the Addy Solar & Electric team, bringing a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and eagerness to learn to every project he’s part of. With over a year of hands-on experience in the electrical field, Buddy has quickly developed a reputation for his close attention to detail and commitment to producing clean, professional work. His willingness to learn and grow each day makes him a valuable part of the team, and his upbeat personality never goes unnoticed. Buddy is always ready with a smile and brings a level of positivity and energy that makes both customers and coworkers enjoy working alongside him. If you have the privilege of meeting Buddy on a jobsite, chances are your day just got a little brighter. When Buddy isn’t working, he enjoys spending his free time playing video games and relaxing.
PV Installer & Electrical Apprentice
Nathan MacKay brings more than 25 years of experience in the low-voltage industry, with a background spanning installation, project management, sales, and business ownership. Before joining Addy Solar & Electric, Nathan owned and operated his own communications cabling company, where he successfully managed and completed numerous large-scale projects from start to finish, including the Butte College Learning Center project. His ability to deliver high-quality work while balancing client expectations, project demands, and profitability has been a defining strength throughout his career. In 2018, Nathan earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from California State University, Chico, along with a minor in Network Administration from Shasta College, further strengthening his technical and business expertise. Nathan joined Addy Solar & Electric in 2023 as an Outside Residential Solar Consultant. Through his professionalism, honesty, and customer-first approach, he quickly helped increase the company’s residential sales by 40%. His strong communication skills, polished presentation style, and leadership abilities earned him a promotion to Sales & Marketing Manager and a role on the company’s leadership team. Outside of work, Nathan is a dedicated father and proud grandfather who enjoys spending time with his family whenever he can. When he’s not helping clients or leading marketing efforts, you’ll often find him attending his grandkids’ dance classes and gymnastics events. Nathan is also a certified personal trainer with a strong passion for fitness, health, and personal growth. His positive energy, discipline, and commitment to helping others improve their lives carry over into both his personal life and his work with clients and the Addy Solar & Electric team.
Sales and Marketing Manager
Helana Randall plays a key role in the daily operations of Addy Electric, Inc. dba Addy Solar, helping keep communication flowing smoothly between clients, field teams, and management. She oversees scheduling, customer service, office coordination, documentation, and administrative workflows while also managing the company’s social media presence and assisting with marketing strategies and creative outreach ideas. With over two years of customer service experience, Helana brings a strong passion for connecting with people and creating positive experiences for both customers and coworkers. Although newer to the solar and electrical industry, she is eager to learn and continues to grow her knowledge every day. Her creativity, positive attitude, and genuine desire to help others make her a valuable part of the team. Known for her accountability, uplifting personality, and attention to detail, Helana helps create a welcoming and supportive environment throughout the company. She enjoys finding creative ways to engage with customers and believes even small interactions can make a meaningful difference in someone’s day. Outside of work, Helana enjoys spending time outdoors with her dog and being around the people she loves. Her fun energy and caring personality make her an important part of the Addy Solar team.
Office Coordinator
Christina Held plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of Addy Solar & Electric as the company’s Office Administrator. She manages permits, interconnection applications, project documentation, scheduling support, and a variety of administrative processes that help keep projects organized and moving efficiently from start to finish. Known for her incredible work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail, Christina is someone who gets the job done and done right. She helps maintain clear communication between customers, utilities, inspectors, subcontractors, and internal teams while helping ensure office operations run smoothly. Christina brings both fierceness and confidence to the team, balanced by a strong commitment to accuracy, professionalism, and getting things handled the right way. With her proactive approach and dedication to her work, Christina helps support the continued growth and success of Addy Solar & Electric every day. Outside of work, Christina is a devoted mom who loves spending time with her son, as well as traveling and exploring new places whenever she can.
